Takashi Shimizu (Violin)

Takashi Shimizu’s journey as a violinist began in his native Japan, where he quickly distinguished himself as a gifted young talent, winning the All Japan Student Violin Competition at age nine. His formative years included study with Jascha Heifetz at the University of Southern California, where he absorbed a deep understanding of both technique and interpretation. Shimizu’s artistry has been honored with prizes at the Queen Elisabeth, Carl Flesch, and Jacques Thibaud Competitions. As a performer, his career has taken him across the globe, collaborating with luminaries like Martha Argerich and Misha Maisky, and performing with esteemed orchestras in Europe, Asia, and North America. A sought-after teacher, he holds a faculty position at the Tokyo University of the Arts, where his guidance continues to shape the next generation of violinists.
