Laura MacDonald
British cellist Laura MacDonald recently completed her Master's degree at the Guildhall School of Music where she was mentored by Adrian Brendel. In 2020, she earned her Bachelor Summa Cum Laude and received the Regency Award for her extraordinary performance.
She recently participated in the IMS Prissia Cove master class, Rutesheim International Cello Academy and Virtuoso Bel Canto Festival where she recorded a selection of Kurtag's works for this festival. This summer she returns to Prussia Cove for the Open Chamber Music, participating in International Holland Music Session (IHMS) and ISA Kammermusik Academy.
Laura soloed in master classes with musicians such as Steven Isserlis, Steven Doane, Leonid Gorokhov and Claudio Bohorguez.
She is an ambitious chamber musician and plays in the Marigold Ensemble, which won the St.James prize resulting in performances at Milton Court Hall and St'James' Piccadilly. She has performed on many famous concert stages in the UK including Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, and Barbican Hall.
Laura is also a member of the ensemble "Mad Song," a collective focusing on contemporary music. They have performed in festivals in London and Wales. Laura is grateful for the support of Help Musicians and the Countess of Munster Trust.
