Jacques Rouvier
French pianist Jacques Rouvier was born into a musical family in Marseilles. He has now been giving concerts and master classes in France and abroad for 30 years. He studied with Vlado Perlemuter, Pierre Sancan, Jean Fassina and Jean Hubeau at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, where he received two first prizes in piano and chamber music. In 1979, he was appointed piano professor. In 1970, together with violinist Jean-Jacques Kanterow and cellist Philippe Muller, he formed the Rouvier-Kanterow-Muller Trio, with which he still performs regularly. Jacques Rouvier recorded more than 30 CDs, including the complete works of Claude Debussy. His recordings of the complete works for piano by Ravel and the sonatas for violin and piano by Ravel and Debussy won him the Grand Prix du Disque in France. He currently serves as piano professor at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
Professor Jacques Rouvier has been a faculty member at IHMS for many summers.
