Poignancy and amazement in reworked masterpieces by Ketevan Sharumashvili

Poignancy and amazement in reworked masterpieces by Ketevan Sharumashvili

Great composers or musicians adapting the works of other great composers. It always produces an intriguing result. Georgian pianist Ketevan Sharumashvili proves this with a program in the Kooger church in Zuid-Scharwoude. Masterpieces by Bach, Schubert and Verdi, among others, arranged by composers such as Rachmaninoff and Liszt. Emotion and amazement go hand in hand when not only the accompaniment to Schubert's Auf dem Wasser zu singen rolls out of the piano, but also the melody that is so well known. Hussar pieces for which Ketevan Sharumashvili does not turn her hand. Meanwhile, even in the cheerful Metamorphoses on Wein, Weib und Gesang, she manages to touch a sensitive chord.
