Maria-Paula Majoor is an accomplished violinist, chamber musician, educator, and cultural leader. With a career spanning over two decades, she combines exceptional musical artistry with a passion for fostering young talent and creating inspiring cultural experiences.
As the first violinist (primarius) of the renowned Matangi Quartet, Maria-Paula has performed extensively in prestigious venues and festivals since the quartet's founding in 1999. Her artistic versatility shines through in her leadership roles, including her work as the founder and artistic director of the **(Un)heard Music Festival**, a platform dedicated to innovative programming and giving voice to lesser-known works and composers.
Maria-Paula's dedication to education is evident in her role as a violin and chamber music professor at **ArtEZ University of the Arts**, where she also mentors students in career development. She has previously coached young talents at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague's School for Young Talent.
A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, Maria-Paula holds a Master of Music in violin solo and chamber music, as well as a specialized Master in string quartet performance from the Dutch String Quartet Academy. Her international studies include an exchange at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg under the guidance of Prof. Rainer Kussmaul.
Fluent in Dutch, English, German, and French, Maria-Paula brings a global perspective to her work. Her commitment to innovation in music education and cultural development continues to inspire audiences and students alike.
