Etty (Mr. H.G.) Postma grew up in Winschoten, where she completed her gymnasium education. After graduating and taking a gap year in the United States, she began studying law at the University of Groningen in 1970. During her undergraduate years, she worked as a summer and stand-by flight attendant for KLM. She graduated with a focus on Aviation Law, which led her to a role in general aviation at FAST Airways, a business charter company based at Eelde Airport, where she served as a manager and assistant to the director.

In 1981, she moved to North Holland due to her (former) spouse’s career and has since lived in Zuid-Scharwoude. Raising a family of four children led her to step back from pursuing a further professional career.

Etty has been extensively involved in volunteer work and has held board positions ranging from the preschool and primary school level to the Murmellius Gymnasium. Additionally, she served on the boards of organizations such as Ladies’ Circle Alkmaar and the Mixed Hockey Club Heerhugowaard (sponsorship committee).

Since 2010, Etty has been running a Bed & Breakfast, “Het Winterkoninkje,” located in the beautiful “Kingdom of a Thousand Islands.”
